Pre-Peel Care
2-6 Weeks Leading Up to the Peel:
- Use a tyrosine inhibitor daily to manage melanin production. The duration will depend on your skin’s Fitzpatrick type, which we’ll discuss during your consultation.
2 Weeks Before the Peel:
- Stop using retinoids to prevent skin sensitivity.
- Avoid any waxing, sugaring, or threading of the treatment area.
1 Week Before the Peel:
- Discontinue the use of exfoliants, including scrubs, AHAs, and BHAs, to keep your skin calm before the procedure.
Day of the Peel:
- Apply SPF in the morning, but avoid using any other products. Your skin needs to be fresh and free from additional treatments before the peel.
Post-Peel Care
For the First Week After the Peel:
- Avoid using retinoids, exfoliants, waxing, sugaring, or threading.
- Keep your skin hydrated and moisturized, focusing on soothing and healing.
- Stay out of the sun as much as possible, and reapply SPF every 80 minutes during daylight hours.
- Avoid environments where the temperature is above 80°F or below 60°F. This means skipping hot yoga, saunas, steamy showers, ice baths, or any winter sports like skiing.
- Be extra gentle with your skin—pat it dry after cleansing, avoid rubbing your eyes, and do not scratch or pick at your face.
Things to Remember:
- One Treatment Consists of 4 Peels: The Pigment Reprogram is a series of treatments, with each session building on the last.
- Never Pick Peeling Skin: Peeling is a natural part of the process, but picking can cause scarring and worsen pigmentation.
- Sun Protection is Non-Negotiable: Protecting your skin from the sun is essential throughout the series to prevent damage and hyperpigmentation.
- Your Results Depend on Your Home Care: Following your home skincare routine as recommended is essential to maximizing the benefits of the treatments.
- Hyperpigmentation May Darken Before It Lightens: Don’t be alarmed if the pigmentation appears darker initially. This is a sign the pigment is surfacing before it fades.
